I am replacing the original traveler on my Hunter 31. I would really like to hear from anyone who has already completed this task. I am unsure how the traveler rail is attached to the boat, It appears as though I will have to remove the coach top to get at whatever is underneath! Help would really be appreciated!!

I didn't remove the coach top...

I replaced mine on my '86H31 several years ago with a Harken. The original was a Rothstan??(name?) Anyway, there was some difficulty removing the screws but not too bad. If yours are corroded it may be tough to get them out, but they don't have nuts in the bottom. As I recall, I may have had to drill and re-tap some of the holes. I also used Marinetex to fare the base where the old bar was before I secured the new one. The project really isn't very hard once you get into it. Good Luck.

Replaced ours many years ago.

Briann: We replaced our many years ago on our Hunter 31. We replaced the original with a Harken. It is just a matter of removing the screws (machine) and replacing the track etc. If I was going to do this today, I would contact Garhauer for one of their new units. They will custom drill it for you so it should be nearly a direct replacment at a reasonable cost.

We did it too. By that time I was working so fast, that I forgot

the CAMERA! Sorry. I have to assume that the 31 shares the 34 design. We removed the seahood. I used machine screws on the Harken system. The trouble with ours was the screw threads had to be trimmed flush to their nuts or they would interfere with the new hatch slider. Not good. Again, sorry, no photos.:(
