The traveler on my 336 is on the pedestal. I am considering removing it and adding one in front of the companionway with mainsheet re-rigged to accommodate. What are the pros and cons or good/bad trade-offs on doing this? Has anyone done this and has tips or afterthoughts? thank you, Bob Pilgrim

Bob, I have a Hunter 336 (1996) and the traveler is mounted on the cabin top roof just forward of the cabin hatch. It was a factory instaled, so you would have no problem converting yours to go on top of the cabin roof as you plan.I think it is much much more easier as it is not in the way all the time. (i.e. not sailing). I don't think you will notice any differece where the traveler is located as it will move the boom to the same spot in either location. I would not have mine anywhere else! However the sailing purest will tell you it is best mounted to the aft of the boom! May be they are technicaly correct but I have no problems with mine and can move it with one hand.I hope this help and as I said before I would move it as the pro's outweight the con's Good Luck!

I like it on the Ped!

It is right there when you need to adjust it. Why walk all the way up to the cabin top? I really like the new ss arches! Jim
