I've been asking off and on if anyone has ever put a traveler on a Hunter 27 89-94. I love racing and a boat without a traveler just doesn't make it. I finally forged ahead on my own. The traveler is midboom and doesn't interfere with passage up and down the companionway. I haven't hit my head yet! And I can point mucho higher. I'll leave a picture here and some in the photo forum if I can figure out how to do it. If anyone needs any help, I'll be happy to lend a hand. Steve

Nice Job!!!

Steve, Looks great! Did you make the brackets for elevating the traveler or did Harken Supply? Do you have any idea how many degrees off the wind you can point now and how many degrees before? Have you noticed any other improvements? Thaks for sharing with us Ward

Hi Ward, The risers are Harken. It points considerably highter. I am also able to bring the boom over the center of the boat for the first time. I can also keep the boom over the center of the boat and let the sail twist out in heavier air to drop the heal down. It makes quite a difference. The real test will come this Wednesday night when I take it out on the race course. I know how I fair against all the boats so I can really give it a test.
