Traveler for 25.5

I have an '86 25.5 that the traveler will suddenly slip when under a heavier load due to the fact that the pins that secure it tend to slip out of the holes in the rail. I wish to upgrade to an adjustable traveler and had found a website selling an upgrade kit that did not require a rail replacement. Does anyone know of this kit or another possibility? I did not bookmark the site and my searches do not find it anymore. I could purchase a complete Harken kit but that would require the rail to be replaced and I am trying to avoid that if possible. PS: I thought I had posted this a few days ago but cannot find my original posting, so I am resubmiting it....ThankKen

Check the photo/project forum under the Hunter forums. Then click on the simple traveler mod. for a Hunter 23 that I posted. On the 25.5 you may need more than 2-1 purchase but that is easily done by installing a single with a becket on the traveler car instead of just the single. Then instead of dead ending the line on the traveler track you would need to install an eye strap with a single next to the end of the track. This way you tie off the line to the becket go over to the single at the end of the track then back thru the block with the becket on the car and back to the other side of the track and up to your cleat. That would give you a quick easy 3-1 adjustable traveler without removing the track. Clear as mud, right? Look at my pictures then come back and read this again. Hope this helps.

Actually, I had seen your article a few days back and thought it would probably work. I looked at the pictures and instructions and read thru your reply once more. I will have to look up the different parts you reference to completely understand as I am fairly new to sailing and the myriad of names can take a while to learn. Once I do that and draw it out, I should be fine. If I move forward with your setup, I will post it for future reference. Thanks, John. Your reply was very helpful. However, I am still curious if anyone knows of the site/company that I found once. I can compare price and complexity to determine which option would be better.
