I have moved from SoCal to Virginia. I listed my 376 (deep draft)with a broker 6 mos ago. No offers. We are seriously looking at trucking it here. I went to the archives and found only 6 entries under transporting 0 under trucking.Anyone having the name of a trucking company specializing in boat hauling please respond.

Try Hunter

Gail: I was talking to a driver who delivered a new boat to my marina recently. They go to great pains not to go back to Florida empty. If you contact Hunter they may be able to set you up with one of their regular guys that delivers to the SoCal area for a backhaul. They would probably love to have a load to Virginia, and then another one back to Florida. Jeff

Try A1

Go to A1 Haul a boat's website. You fill out a form and they get back to you in a couple of days. They are a broker, so you get the best price and they do all the bid requests for you from various hauling companies. I'll paste the link, but in case it doesn't work its: www.a1haulaboat.com Tim

trucking your boat

I had my boat hauled by Andrews Trucking from Waukegon Ill to Toronto last fall. They are excellent and very competent. You might find the rates in Canadian$ pretty good. They haul all over the US and Canada so you probably can pick up a piece of a trip. They are at 1 800 263 7140

Hunter Vision-36 Rio Vista, CA.
Chesapeak to the Bay area.

Gail: Contract this through you local Hunter dealer in California. They can prep the boat for you. Bob Boxberger just moved his 29.5 from the Chesapeak to SF for $3750 plus decommissioning and recommissioning (I think the price was about $2000 including a bottom paint before the splash). If you really want to keep the boat, this is better than the commission that you would pay to sell the boat. The California boat market is pretty soft right now.

Thanks

Thanks for your responses. I have contacted H&S (Hunter) and requested a friend to contact the yard that commissions the Hunters for the H&S sales office in Oxnard CA. Also found a web site for a boat transporters association. So far all of the transporters in that association want an overall height measurement from me. Ref previous postings it may seem that they would have that info but they want it.

It'll be expensive

but as the man said, not as expensive as selling the boat at a distress price from whioch you have to opay the broker's commission. That $3,700 price looks good to me if it holds up. But you also might want to check the float-on/float-off ocean transporter. Anyway, the attached link should give you plenty of options.
