Hi,

Just purchased a 1998 340 and relocating it in Ontario by road. Height permitted is 13'-6" and I am told I am permitted 12'-4" on the cradle. We have a shoal draft keel, will I have to remove the arch? If so, any idea how that is done? The owners manual mentions nothing about it.

Check access panel in aft berth port side and very back upper of starboard side cockpit locker, both directly under base of the arch.

To make sure the removal is necessary, I would definitely measure from base of the cradle to top of the arch, then figure an acceptable safety factor below the 12'4''. Good luck

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new 1998 Hunter 340 sailboat!!

Transport company might require it to be removed as post #3 in the first thread indicated and others have said in the same thread. The second thread discusses a Hunter 340 fiberglass arch removal.

Thanks so much for the guidance. I will look into it and I am sure its not too complicated.

Had to do this on my 356. Not overly difficult just very awkward accessing the nuts from the inside of the lockers. Find a very small helper lol.
