Hunter 33 Georgia
Hi everybody
We bought a 33 Hunter last year in the USA, hoping to sail there, but we can't go because my husband can't get away from his job enough. We want to bring it to Canada this weekend. But because he can't go there I have to go and pack the boat. I never had a sailboat and I do not know much about them. I am a women but pretty handy. I can use all the help to do the job. If anybody could let me know, what to look out for that would be great. You think a women alone can make the boat ready for transport?:)

Andrews Trucking in Niagara-on-the-lake brought our catalina 34 from Annapolis to Georgian Bay two years ago. The mast has to be stripped of spreaders and standing rigging. I just duct taped all the halyards to the mast. Coiled the shoruds & tossed in the cockpit. Winterize the engine. its still freezing up here !

Nobody alone can do that job. What is often done is a boat yard will lift the boat out of the water (or cradle) with a travel lift and put it onto the transport vehicle. They might take care of a lot of things for you, some of which you just can't do yourself, for example taking down the mast.

Other folks I know ran into other problems, the stern rails/davits added just enough to the total load height to make removal necessary. The dodger had been removed previously. That can be a real bear to do and you may not find out until the trucker and yard are standing by at $$/hour.

What you need in advance is the knowledge that someone honest and helpfull is going to be there to work with you. In the best of circumstances you would have a trucker and a boat yard who have worked togther before.
