According to the morning SSB update, Chuck Beazell is currently in second place in the Singlehanded Transpac (SF to Hawaii) in his Hunter 54 "Joe". Plagued by light winds so far this race, Chuck's Distance Made Good is only 575 miles so far, but the first place boat, a Santa Cruz 50, is only 31 miles ahead of him and owes him enough time that Chuck could correct out in first place on handicap if this pattern holds. Chuck, by the way, is a fellow member of Sequoia Yacht Club, which has another racer in the transpac, Phil McFarlane, who is currently in 10th place.
