I am preparing to put a name on my old boat it's an 84 model catalina 27 and I dont have the dimensions on the width of the transom. The boat is 2 hours away and if someone had them handy it sure would help. Also if someone could give this fresh water sailer some info on checking/replacing the zinc on the boat it would be helpful like where they go and how many or what kind.

zincs

zincs You should have at least one on the prop shaft between the hull and the strut. Some people have added one on the strut as well. If you have a hole in the strut or part of a zinc then you have this configuration. I imagine that they last longer in fresh water, but if you have a 'hot' marina then it will go fast no matter what water you are in.

Zinc placement

Floyd, Welcome cruising the gem of the texas coast on a gem of a boat. I am assuming your vessel would have an inboard, therefore the best zinc placement would be on the shaft, and perhaps a zinc propnut.
