I like the walk thru transoms on newer boats. Do you know if it is possible to cut through the lazarette and transom of an older ('79) 30 and glass it in? Would there be concerns about structural integrity (small lake sailing only). Seems like the walk through transoms are a relatively recent feature and those boats are pretty expensive! I'm getting too old to climb up the high transom on the 30.

It would be cheaper to sell the boat you have and buy one with a walk through transom. It will cost more than the boat is worth to make the modification and will not add any value (to anyone but you). In fact it will make the boat harder to sell.
