Hi again you guys are so good with your answers I cant help myself asking. My B393 has had a new rubber transom moulding fitted but on the voyage home it mostly peeled off. I have put a few bolts through it to keep it in place but it looks pretty ordinary. I would think it was done with a sikaflex type adhesive but the broker is playing innocent etc...says it was done properly. Anyone done this job? Can i do it in the water?? The broker did. Thanks again Andy and Barb on Amalie

Factory installed ?

Are you sure it wasn't installed at the factory? Bennys have a heavy rubber strip or bumper that runs around the seam on the stern. They're held on by stainless screws with collars. If they use any sort of glue it's not much. Mine stays in place unless I hit with a brush or heavy stream of water when washing it. It's a fairly tight fit to begin with and the hardware does a nice job of keeping it in place. Not sure how your's came loose but if the boat is new the dealer should be willing to repair it. If they're not then I would take a look at how the factory installs the hardware and try to duplicate it. Good luck Mike

Factory installed

All the 393's here have the rubber strip installed at the factory with a sealant and stainless screws and washers, which, by the way, rust something terrible. Rick I http://groups.yahoo.com/group/beneteau393/ beneteau393 : Beneteau393 Group

RUBBERS

The white rubbery molding on my '94 OC400 was cracked, mildewed and coming off in chunks. In the yard for bottom paint, I had it replaced, but not without some hassle. Beneteau sent the wrong stuff the first time, then claimed that what they sent was right, that they only have the one shape. Things went back and forth between me, the yard and the factory, until the yard faxed them a cross section of the actual piece. They then claimed to have no idea how that piece was shipped. Anyhow, they shipped a new one, the yard put it on with screws and sealant and it looks great now, but keep after it. When the surface starts to become pitted from sunlight, mildew soon follows.
