I've seen some pictures on this site of what looks to be factory made transom roller mast cradles. This would seem to ease positioning the mast for trailering, just unbolt and slide it forward at the step and rebolt. Does anyone know where to get this product? I've looked but to no avail. Or, has anyone fabricated one? Thanks for your help!

mine is tall, hangs on the rudder pindles like above, and I do use it for trailering.

mine is pretty heavy steel, and was built by the original owner.

the others I see mount to the stearn rail, and use a basic roller.

(I have not seen the ida sailor version of this either, but if it exists its probalby a good design.)

Maybe I spoke too soon. I have seen mast cradles made by Ida, but I really don't know if they have them in their catalog. Make a phone call.

My mast carrier is attached to the top of my rudder head with a quick release pin. It is intentionally high enough to allow me to lift the pop top for dry camping en route. I "guy" it with two lines to my aft bimini hold downs on the aft end of the boat.

I'll post a pic of mine when I get back to shore, tomorrow or monday, mine hangs on eyebolts attached to the rudder stock (Idasailor kickup) and is made of 1"square tubing with a roller at the top. I am currently anchored off Paradise Cove, Malibu waiting for lobster season to open at midnight. Aint technology grand?

The Inner pole and T and up rights are 1 inch and the outer around the inner pole is 1 1/4.

It was made to slide up about another two feet but I found I did not need the extra hight.

All steel is 0.060 but I will use the next thickness (0.090 I think) when I redo it this winter because it will be just one pole.

Rick,
Thanks for the pics. Really nice cradle. Is it steel or aluminum? What is the wall thickness, 1/16", 1/8" or ...?

Struck out, and lost a net to boot, found out that the new tillerpilot isn't much use in following seas. Good thing we didn't try for Catalina though, Sunday would have been out for a return, and Monday would have been uncomfortable at the least.

And here is ours.....

.......it is also used as a hoist .................

..............to put either the Honda on the transom or the dingy motor on its mount....

............There is a support bar that is used while trailering or when in lift mode to give it fore/aft support, but the rest of the time it is removed and only takes a minute to put it on or off...

more details here........

Like some of the others it is high enough at the back where we can .............

.........raise the pop-top for use while trailering from one place to another.

Sum

WOW... it's beautiful! Can you make me one?:) You need to go into business.

Thanks Sum for the pictures. Because of a recent surgery I am on a permenant weight restriction order. I been sailing for 52 years and was dreading having to stop, I even put the boat up for sale. But in the last months I have decided that I am going to make all the routines as accomodating as possible and can continue to sail! Your system here for the mast and motor is great and I'm re-designing again..

...as my betters have pointed out, I should have said lifting restriction, although sailing provides plenty of incentive to lose the weight as well...
