Transom Reinforcement on 1987 23.5

I have been thinking of beefing up the transom on my 1987 23.5. I was thinking of pumping some type of material in there that would make it more of solid feel. I do not have any problems with it now, just contemplating the idea.

Is it hollow or filled with something?
Is there a need to do this?

Hi Dave,
if you can creep under the cockpit head first, you can see it from the inside.
If there is no sign of damage, I don't think it needs beefing. Hovever I was a bit concerned on our 23.5 , for the 'box' that accomodates the upper part of the motor.
It looks very thin, in fact it is translucent from the inside.
