Has anyone had any luck mounting a transducer to the transom of a 26X? I have a Piranha 2 Fishfinder and would prefer mounting the transducer to the transom. A minimum of 15 inches from the propeller is required which would put it right in line with a rudder. Will further out work?

Transducer can be mounted !

Bill....... I successfully mounted a Humminbird XT-6-TB-90P 3" on center from the left edge of the ballast valve. Works fine with 300TX Control Head. Mounted the Temp/Speed Guage on the other side of the stern, inside of the rudders. Run cables through hull as high as possible (2" from deck level)Seal with marine grade silicon. happy sailing......dan

DAN - reason for the 300 TX

Dan and Bill: Any feed back on the reasoning of the 2 models of fish finders? I am leaning toward the Piranha 4 or the 300 TX because of the speed/temp features. I am unclear as to the major difference of the Piranha 4 and the 300 TX. I see the 4 only pulls .125 amps and I think is a more recent model than the 300. Any suggestions? Thanks
