The black rubber latches on the swim platform lockers do not stay latched especially after stepping on the locker lids. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and if any other latch has proven to work better for this application. My latches are mounted on the rear of the cover. Any thoughts on mounting them on the side. Thanks.

Check out the newer Hunters...

The latches on my 320 are on the side and work very well, I have not had a case of one coming undone. As an added benefit, there is a hole in the post that would allow me to place a lock to keep people out of the tankage area. I would think that you could get these from Hunter and in about 15 minutes with a drill and some 3M 101, have them installed. Regards. Bruce Neon Moon

Latches

Bruce, thanks for the reply. I thought of putting them on the side but was concerned with interference with the stern door/seat when opened. Mine also does not have the locking option so they must have redesigned the latch to some extend.

Transom Locker Latches

Bruce, I called Hunter about the new lockable latch and they didn't know anything about it. They said that they still use the same latch as I have. Just for clarification, I'm talking about the transom lockers on the outside of the swim platform not the lazarette in the cockpit. If you think that the Hunter parts person wasn't up to speed, please provide me additional information/description/picture so that I can pursue it again with Hunter. Thanks.

The Best

Mike in parts at Hunter is the greatest. Always willing to help and if he does not know he'll check it out and get back to you. He's found all kinds of little odds and ends for me. A great resource for us and asset for them

Sorry for the delay

Lee, the ones on my 320 are not the black latch over type that they have used for ever. Go to the Hunter website (see URL below), it will show the 326, hit the next button and click the small picture of the stern. You will see (not the best picture) that there are latches mounted in-board on the transom lockers. These are mounted from the inside of the locker with a post that sticks out and is latched by a stainless fitting attached to the locker lid that goes over the post and secures the lid. The post has a hole in it for a lock to fit through if desired. Great little latch, you might want the guy to go out and look at the boats on the web, or better yet have him go out on the line and look at one of the new 326's. Regards. Bruce. Neon Moon

Latches

For my transom lockers, I replaced the black rubber latches with a set of Perko latces, ?9255? I think. I had to fill in the old screw hole with epoxy and bedded the new latches in with 4200. So far so good. Paul Bednarzyk S/V Knot Again
