Plastic Teak
I finally had three 18-inch steps made for me by PlasTeak. I do not plan to have one at the top or bottom on my H37C. I was going to make them myself like I did the handrails. But I do not own a good router or the $25. bullhead bit required to make that nice half-round cut on the bottom. The plastic teak would have cost about $30., the three steps were $50. They will make any length and there are three colors to choose from: light teak, dark teak, and offwhite. Caution, the steps are not round all the way to the end. They are flattened where they are welded so a groove has to be made on the bottom at the ends. Most boat companys that install these steps at the factory just drill and tap the top of the step. I drilled all the way through because I will feel more secure with thru-bolts. Line up the holes vertically with the ground, not in line with the side rails. I will do the winch pads with 1/2" by 9" plastic teak and there will be no more varnishing!! www.plasteak.com
