s2 6.8 Ephraim
S2 6.8 has a small block glassed into the transom near intersection of transom and bottom, just under the motor bracket. Moving (lowering) the motor bracket and will have to drill through that block for one or two of bracket bolts.

What is the purpose of that block and does anyone see a problem with drilling through it?

Hi,

I believe it was used during the manufacturing process to lift the hull out of the mold. I replaced a 2 stroke engine mount with a heavy duty 4 stroke mount on my S2 6.8. As a consequence, we had to remove the piece of plywood that was there and laminate a foam board with an additional aluminum plate to spread the load of a wider bracket and a 110 lb 4 stroke engine.
