Hi,
I want to connect an Icom MXA-5000 ais receiver to a laptop and transmit the ais data from the pc to my tablet at the helm via wifi.
Any ideas on how to do that?

Not directly but you could use some type of remote control program to take over your laptop from your tablet. You should be able to get an RDP app for your tablet and then enable RDP on your PC. Doing this will allow you to see and control you PC's desktop. What OS are you running on your PC? What tablet do you have?

If both devices have wireless, then you can try WANET which is Wireless Ad Hoc Network. This is a method of a wireless connection between devices without the use of an established network of routers. Do a google search on Ad Hoc Networks to read up on how to do it.
