I am new to mooring and have a Pearson 303 with a Yanmar 2GMF engine. How should the transmission be engaged when left unattended. (Forward, neutral or Reverse?) Should the helm be locked or not? There is some tidal current.

transmission neutral, Helm locked admidships.

this way the bearings or bushing is the rudder and transmission clutches won't wear from movement of the boat.

HI, Stimpy, I am in boothbay on a mooriog for years I have a 28 oday with a 3gm30f I leave it in neutral and lock the wheel straight. I am only 4 miles from my home and I go down to the boat every few days . thers never a problem, I see you are up here in maine. A note , experience is the best teacher always check your rudder and your prop, for a LOBSTER POT cought in this area before you start your engine. Good Luck Go when the weather good tomorrow you don:t know, Frederick P
