Anyone have any experience with the 15 horse yanmar on the 33 hunter (77-84). my trany make a high pitched noise in foward gear, no noise in reverse. probably need to rebuild. If anyone has any experiences or has pulled one of these I'd sure appreciate any input. thanx Bill

I remember someone showing a website or the name of a place where you could buy rebuilt yanmar transmissions and the price was great.

Bill,

First try changing your oil and running it for an hour or more and changing the oil again. Most often it's a case of low/old oil. If you need forther assistance email or call me. Pat McCartin Inland Marine Diesel Buford, Ga imd_ga@hotmail.com

2QM15 Trans

Hi Bill, I had a 2QM15 in my 79 33 . The previouse owner had rebuilt it before I got it. Anyway it had a loud whine in forward and no noise in reverse. It never gave me any problems with many hours use. Someone told me that the gears may not have been installed correctly when it was rebuilt. I have since upgraded to the 2GM20 but the old Yanmar was running great when I took it out.

changed oil once

thanks guys, Yes I was told before it could last like that for quite awhile, it's mainly too annoying to listen to on those long trips home against the wind. I did drain it and changed the oil, will try a second time this week... was thinking maybe some heavier oil like lucas might help. Forsure I need to do something. thanks Bill
