transmission noise ?

Earlier in the season, I was running the engine of my 320 in gear at the dock at about 1,500 rpm. All was normal until I heard a noisy mechanical sound. There seemed to be a vibration from somewhere and the engine nearly stalled. As soon as I put the gear shift into neutral, the problem and the noise stopped. It has not happened since. It is a Hurst transmission on a Perkins 30. Any ideas ?

I would got to www.catalina320.org and sign up for their new list. I'm sure there are other owners out there who have experienced your problem that may be able to provide assistance.

Haven't had that problem...yet.

Haven't had that problem on my perkins. Sounds like maybe something got stuck on prop or shaft. I've thrown a zinc before, but that didn't stall the engine. Maybe a piece of rope or something got tangled.
