Transmission fluid Leak

Before I bought my bought I replaced the rear transmission seal, the PO guided me along as i did this. It was sucssessful... I think. I put the boat in the water and we drove it to my marina. Ran great. no leaks. Last weekend I added some transmission fluid assuming it was a little low. Yesterday I went out for a sai; did some motoring too. When I went to the boat today I noticed tran. fluid was leaking and saturated the oil cloth I had sitting under the engine. It's a Yanmar 2QM15. looks like it's leaking where the shaft comes out of the clutch case. (the seal area) Could I have added too much fluid. I did check the level after about a half of cup leaked and it was reading where it is suppose to be on the dip stick and it seemed to be dripping less. Is there an over flow vent on this engine or is it a leak??? Can anyone help? thanks

To begin with the 2 Cylinder Yanmar uses ENGINE OIL in the transmission and not transmission fluid.

There is a vent

The dip-stick for the Type KBW 10-B transmission on the 2QM15 is hollow and has a vent hole on the side of the top nut. If you rev the engine too high when going from forward to reverse - like when docking - you can get some transmission fluid to squirt out of the vent hole. Otherwise, none should be leaking from the case or the seal. Yes, the Type KBW 10-B transmission on the 2QM15 uses Dexron transmission fluid. If in doubt, check the ID label on the side of the transmission case.
