transducers

I have a 38M beneteau- currently it has a thru hull transducer, the speed does not work and someone told me to pull it out and clean the wheel. of course be careful boat doesn't sink. I have just purchased a new touchscreen gps and it also has a depth gauge but I didn't buy the transducer because I can either get the thru hull or the inside not thru hull type. my question is--the not thru hull type says not to use on "cored hulls" or hulls thicker than 5/8 inch. Is my boat suitable for this non-thru hull type and is this type even any good at all?

Your Beneteau hull is NOT cored. The transducer will be fine.

Airmar non-thru hull transducers are just fine if mounted correctly.
