Hoping someone could help...we had to reset our Tridata and that included the depth sounder. We have a 331 with the transducers located in the same factory location, just under the V-berth and just behind the fresh water holding tank location. We searched and searched but could not find what the offset would be for the transducer to the waterline. In other words, we are looking for the actual depth from the waterline to the transducer in order to re-calibrate the fathometer. Anyone with a 331 who knows this measurement that would be wonderful. Or, if you have an idea on how I could figure it out with the boat in the water and without going over the side, that would be just as great. Thanks.

The offset on my 331, to show depth of water to the waterline, is 1.5ft. I used a small line with an old prop zinc attached as a weight. Drop it in the water next to the boat across from the location of the transducer (the depth at my slip is 7ft). Measure the length of the wet portion of the line to get the actual water depth. Put an offset in until the display matches the actual water depth.

Duhh...why didn't i think of that

Thanks for the reply. We had seemed to recall 1.5 too but were not positive. We will use this method to confirm. Some times common sense escapes me...thanks for the reminder and good advice.

Any reason why you don't have the offset calibrated to the bottom of the keel? Makes it a lot simpler.

...and just to be a little contrary, why not leave it alone and use the 1.5' as yoru safety margin :)

The only good reason for both is personal preference. We tried with the full offset but just liked seeing actual. Having the margin of error is interesting too. Thanks.

Sometimes the crew want to look at the actual water depth reading if they are going swimming.
