Hello All!

I am preparing to install an Airmar B744V thru-hull transducer on my 78 , shallow draft, H30. Unfortunately, I am having a difficult time finding a location forward of the keel with suitable access from the inside. I have found two no longer used, old thru-hull transducers along side the keel. One is a good 26" from the keel. I would like to knock this one out and replace it with the new transducer.Would 26" be sufficient distance from the keel to allow mounting beside the keel?

Thanks in advance!

Use a ziplock bag of water and put it between your transducer and the hull. Test hull locations for a good signal response, and hopefully it will be in front of the keel. Once thats determined, bond the transducer to the hull with silicone or toilet bowl wax. I would prefer not to mount alongside the keel but, if you have no choice then try it. Chief

The depth finder in my shalllow draft 1981 Hunter 27 is under the forward part of the port settee, not sure of the exact distance, but it is in front of the keel. Sounds like the one thru-hull was for that. The knotmeter is in the aft section of the same storage area.
