WE TRAILER OUR 270

WE BOUGHT A DODGE RAM 4X4 1/2 TON WITH A 318 V8 ENGINE. OTHER THAN A TRANSMISSION COOLER AND 10,000LB HITCH, WE HAD ALL WE NEEDED. THE BOAT HAS A TANDEM AXLE CUSTOM TRAILER. YOU SHOULD GET WIDE LOAD PERMITS AND A SIGN. WE HAVE TOWED IT WITH AND WITHOUT A PERMITS. EVEN THOUGH A POLICE OFFICER STOPPED US ONCE WHEN WE DIDN'T HAVE A PERMIT FOR A LOOSE LICENSE PLATE, HE NEVER NOTICED THE EXTRA WIDTH.

Check regs

The '27 is just an inch or two too wide to tow legally. You may get by. Check the regs for max width. I am quite sure you will need a wide load permit. The 30 would probably get noticed by the authorities since it is way too wide.

Trailering

How far are you going to tow it and how frequently are you going to tow it?

Wide load permit required

Most states require a wide load permit.

California Law

I see that you are located here in California. The law permits you to trailer without restrictions / permits on trailers less than 8 ' 6". If your trailer or load is wider you will require a permit. Other restrictions are made on wide loads EG: time travel...check with your local CHP office..
