What type or brand of trailer would be best suited for trailering a Catalina 22 mkII with a wing keel? How practical is it to trailer and launch this model on a regular basis?

Trail-Rite

Trail-rite Trailers of Santa Ana, CA makes the trailers for the C22. I think they may have used some other trailer companies along the way, but it has been mostly the Trail-Rites. Since it is a wing keel, you will want a steep ramp. You may have to use the extension even at that. If you are trailer launching, I would try to engineer everything so that you just have to put up the mast and connect a few things. If you can experiment with keeping the main sail slotted in the mast, and merely disconnect the gooseneck, then you will save lots of time launching and setting up. When I was setting up on a regular basis, it took about 45 minutes. I think I could have re-engineered a few things and gotten it down to 30 minutes. I saw a group set the land speed record for set up and launch on a Mac 21. They set up and sailed away in 10 minutes. There was 4 people, and everyone had a specifc job. It was an amazing thing to watch. Regards, Ted
