Is it possible to safely trailer an H25 on a trip (Des Moines to Bayfield, WI, dual axel trailer with electric brakes possible to hook up) with a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder SE, 6 cyl & 240 horse with a tounge wt limit of 500# and a load limit of 5000#. I know this load is close to the stated max's. Would it be stupid? Thanks, Dennis

Make sure you don't use overdrive

or 5th gear if it's a maunal tranny. You should be OK if you keep it around 55-60mph and take it easy climbing hills. I'd even cut the A/c on hills. Most vehical manufactures set limits on things to protect themselves as much as the public. The max is in a "safe range" of operation for your vehicle. You should be fine. Good luck, and enjoy the Apostle Islands!! Tom

Tom's response is good. The fact that you have a tandem trailer is good too to distribute the laod and with the extra axle, swaying is less and I do not see the need for a sway bar. Make sure the tires are filled with air and the tires are not dry rotted. Also pack the bearings with grease. I note you have electric brakes. Before going into the water, be sure to disconnect the wire harness. Remeber this, drive as if you are on snow and ice.. That is accelerate slowly, do not tailgate and infact give yourself alot of room between vehicles and give yourself severalt times the braking distance. Be aware of the fact that when a tractor trailer passes, the trailer will sometimes have a tendacy to be sucked in toward the truck but with tandem axles, that is not as true. Crazy Dave Condon
