I have a 76 Catailna 22 swing keel. I am looking for a double axle trailer. I have a single axle "Shore Line" now that is fine for taking my boat the 5 miles to the marina, but I have some plans for voyaging farther this winter. I dont feel a single axle is safe on the LA freeways. Do any of you know a good company for having a trailer built or is there a stock trailer I can buy? thanks for your help.

Add an axle?

I think that I've heard of people adding an axle to their trailer. You might ask a trailer shop about that.

trailer it

Russ; I used to have a '76 Cat 22 on a single-axle trailer. I wouldn't worry about the single axle. If your running gear; bearings, races, wheels, tires, etc. are in good shape, all you'd need for peace of mind is a good spare and the proper jack to change it. The boat is pretty light, actually. I even removed the brakes since they kept rusting and never missed them. If your tow vehicle is a somewhat robust, you shouldn't have any problems.

Trail-rite in Santa ana, CA

Trail-rite trailers in Santa Ana, CA makes trailers for the C-22. They may be helpful in adding an axle to your current rig. Alternatively Champion Trailers (www.championtrailers.com) can sell you a second axle kit. The C-22 is within the limits of a single axle trailer (3500 lbs total load), but a second axle is safer on the raod. Regards, Ted
