Trailer

There is a trailer available in southern Maine apparently suitable for a Vega. I haven't seen it but I am reliably advised that it is home built but in good shape, suitable for a boat to 30 feet.

Hi! Nico. By a crazy twist this Miami boy is leaving thurs pm for - you guessed it - the south of Maine. Have you more details or any contact info? I'll be in my Toyota "1 Ton" PU (it's no F350, but it should tow OK).
How much are they asking - I'm a teacher, unemployed now 'til Sept!

Hi All

Just towed a Vega 30 miles form my farm in the New Forest to SOuthampton. Not a pleasant job and kepy below 30mph the whole way. Must admit I would sooner pay someone to do the towing.......Regrads

Steve,
I'd only be towing the empty trailer from Maine!
It would be useful to take V1061 to my backyard for storage or maintenance, etc. Or - especially - to haul her out in the event of a hurricane. This is Florida; I lived in a two-story houseboat before Andrew waltzed through!.
No further word from Nico, tho', so perhaps it's moot.

The trailer is still available, but I'll know more Friday. A client of mine
(me a lawyer) is buying the O'Day and the trailer comes with - -but he says
he probably doesn't want it. I will see him Friday and will give him these
emails and he or I will let you know.

Anyone interested in sharing the
shipping cost for a trailer from Triad Trailers to the Seattle /
Portland area? I want to buy a new trailer for my boat but paying
the shipping for a hauler to bring a single trailer to the West Coast
is just too much. If you've been thinking about a new trailer for
your sailboat this is a way to save some on the purchase. Contact
Mike at Triad Trailers for info.

Hi all ,I had my boat break away during a storm and cause extensive damage to the bow of the boat . The quote to fix at the marina far exceeds my insurance value , and I'm not clear on what happens in a total situation .I am thinking about transporting the boat to my property while I'm working on it ... But no trailer ...Any clever suggestion other than just purchasing/finding a trailer ?Thanks

Sorry to hear the bad news. There are companies that specialize in moving yachts using a hydraulic lift trailer that will pick up your Vega and put it wherever you like it. It will rest on upright stands instead of a trailer, but if it is going to be sitting for awhile it might save you the cost of a trailer. The companies charge per mile and are very competitive depending on where you are located. Hope this helps. Best of luck....

Hi Robert,

Build a carriage for your boat. Set the carriage on a flat bed low boy and lift your boat onto the carriage. Tie it down and head home. I friend just did this for his 32 foot sail boat. Worked great.

I have used my flat bed goose neck trailer and equipment trailer with good success. Just requires some improvised supports and good strapping and away you go. Lots of those around.

Best
