Changed the brake fluid and bled the brakes in my surge brake trailer for a 95 H26. Now the brakes lock up even in moderately easy braking. What could be causing this. Am not terribly mechanically inclined. Thanks in advance for ideas to check.

Adjust the brakes

It sounds like you did some good by bleeding the brakes becasue before you might have had air in the lines therefore the brakes were not as responsive as they are now. Jack up one side at a time and try spinning the wheel by hand. It should just barely spin and you should hear the pads rubbing on the drum. It will have a grinding kind of sound. Its suppose to sound that way. If it is very hard to spin then your brakes need adjusting. If you have never adjusted brakes before you might want to take it to someone that does brakes and watch them do it so you can do it on your own next time. Brake adjustment is not hard once you've seen it done but due to safety reasons and you saying you're not terribly mechanically inclined it might be wise to have it done. You wouldn't want to adjust the pads out too much so the brakes wouldn't function and casue bad things to happen. Good Luck.
