Trailer suspension

I am replacing the springs on my 26S original factory trailer, and the rear spring hangers were so rusted that they broke when I tried to get the old bolts out. I have cut the old spring hangers off because they were welded on and am replacing them. I may also move the position of the springs to make the balance better. Do I have to weld the new spring hangers to the frame, or can I bolt them through the frame? Has anyone got bolted on spring hangers? If so are they OK or does drilling holes weaken the trailer frame? Or has anyone got an alternative to bolting through the frame?

Sliders

I had the same issue on my 88' 26D. I cut off all the old suspension and changes it to a spring slider from champion. The advantage is you can fine tune your tongue weight.

price vs adjustablity

I had a similar problem last month. looked at the slinging hangers, but decided to have new hangers rewelded. the price of the sliding hangers was a lot more than 4 new hangers, so I had them weld them back about 12". (per johnS recommendations.) UNFORTUNATLY. they moved the hangers 11" on stb, and 11 1/8" on port. (uneven) had I used the sliding hangers I could have gotten a perfect alighnment.... (you want to move the exact amt on both sides) -originally I thought the springs were shot, but they were fine. it was the rusted trailer hangers... if you want to strenghten the trailer, box the channel. (add an upright to the open channel side. a few 2" pieces welded every 2' should be fine. I see no problem with the champion hangers, but price.

Where do I get sliding spring hangers?

I like the idea of sliding spring hangers. Where do you get them from? Is there a web site?
