Trailer springs/winch

One of the leaf springs on our 23.5's trailer is broken. Could someone tell me, what is the capacity of the leaf spring? Locally I have found springs of the same size with capacities ranging from 1700# to 3000#. What would you recommend? Also, the winch on the trailer is about to crap out, can anyone suggest a replacement, brand, size, etc.Thanks,Rich

Hi RichTry Championtrailers.com. They've got lots of trailer parts. I replaced all of the runnng gear on my 23.5 with parts from Champion. They are very helpful too. Inspect the axle closely...mine nearly collapsed because it rusted from the inside out after about 3 years use. The important thing is the width of the spring and the distance between eyes. I don't remember the exact dimensions, but they are a standard size spring. The axle has a capacity of 3500 lbs, and I guess the spring would have to be rated at least half of that (2 wheels).Good luck. I'm thinking of converting my trailer to a tandem this fall.
