Catalina Capri 18 ann arbor
Hey everyone!

I live in Ann Arbor, my daughter is a student in Columbus (I know . . . Right? Too bad neither of us care much about football). I was thinking about dragging the boat to Toledo so she could meet me for sailing. Toledo is not nearly halfway, about an hour for me, 2.5 for her, but you can’t sail in a farmer’s field!

Maumee Bay looks like it’s about a foot deep, and you have to motor out 5 miles before you can sail. Luna Pier looks more promising on the map.

Does anyone have experience is Western Lake Erie?
Is there anything I’m not factoring in?

Thanks!

Western Lake Erie is kinda shallow but how much water does the Capri 18 need? I've been in keelboat races that started in Maumee Bay so there must be some water there. And I've been on a powerboat on the Maumee River and I don't recall much concern about depth. I don't have access to a chart there so ...
Why not meet in Sandusky?

@shemandr
sandusky is not a bad idea.

i don’t think it’s any shorter for her and it’s longer for me…. Don’t know where cedar point traffic starts to be a problem. But - it might be better sailing.

heck, maybe I leave the Capri at home and we take the ferry to Put-In Bay (I’ve never been).
