Rgranger;
How are the folks at marina. I heard gloria past away. I can tell you Gloria was a true friend and one heck of a cook.

I launched from there three times this summer, spent the day on the lake and then ate dinner out on the deck. Jo is running things now. Still some of the best food I've ever had.
I've always had a great experience at Lake Haven --- except for the last time I was there. I pulled in, and started setting up my mast and some "new guy" I've never seen before comes walking up to my boat and then starts giving me a tongue lashing for driving too fast down the road. I know I didn't go over 10mph but I figured the best thing to do is just say sorry won't happen again.... but he keeps up at it. I have a thick skin and don't really let a-holes get to me but I was also with my two kids and two of their friends so I really wanted to diffuse this as fast as I could. I have no idea who this guy is and he starts saying things like.... "we are happy to have outsiders use our ramps bla bla bla..." At that point I interrupted him and told him I've been a customer here for over 10 years... and pointed to one of my former boats still in it's slip. Then he calmed down a bit and said ... "well we had an incident last weeks .... so ... just slow down". And he huffed off. I don't know what that was all about but I got the impression that something happened and feelings/emotions were still a bit raw... wrong place wrong time for me I guess. Anyway, we had a great sail, and when I returned that evening, the guy was no where to be seen, Jo was still serving the best food on the lake, a live band was playing up on the deck... so in the end it was still a good day.
Dave... you have to go sailing with me sometime. One of these Saturdays that gets up into the high 50s or low 60s with a stiff 15mph wind is ideal. I love winter sailing. The Marina closes its ramps in the winter months now so we would have to launch at the state park.
