Lake Lanier, GA
Hi Butch,
I used to live in lafayette Not sure if anyone posted Lake Lanier in Georgia - It's about 30 miles north of Atlanta. It's a huge lake and you can easily spend a week sailing it. I have an O'Day 192 and try to get to the lake as often as i can.
It seems to be a pretty big sailing community on the lake as well - although I would recommend going M-F as the weekends get pretty busy. This last weekend there was a sail regatta and had to be at least 40 sailboats competing (I was watching .
Let me know if you come up this way, I'd be happy to help you get rigged and launched.
Jay

I am looking for lakes to go to to get away from the summer heat. I live in south Louisiana and would like to find some lakes to go to that may be 12 hours driving time from me. I have a Hunter 23.5 on a trailer and would like to get away for a week or so. Can some of yall sailors tell me your favorite lake to go to. Lakes in Arkansas, Mississippi, Tenn, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, etc.
thanks
Butch
