We live in an area that does not have good ramp access. The beach sand here is very compact and getting stuck is hard to do. My question is this: Does anyone have any experience with modifying a trailer by adapting a 3rd wheel near the trailer tongue. I saw a guy once who made this type of setup and he said it makes launching and retrieving easy. Im looking for ideas and or plans for such a setup. Any help?

Third wheel

Hey Rodger I've got the setup you need...My trailer has a removable swivel wheel at the front of the trailer..The wheel is mounted to a 2 inch tube that slides into a receptacal. I also have mounted a (removable) winch on my rear bumper of my truck...The winch plate has keyholes in it that slide over pins on a plate on the bumper center. the tighter it pulls the tighter it set itself. I back to the ramp, set the winch, attach the hook, set the wheel and disconect the trailer, push the "remote" button and the fixed fin 22 heads for the water.. Easyest thing you'd ever see.... Randy's 3rd Wheel

Randy, could you tell us where you can purchase such a wheel? I've noticed that there are also small electric winches that attach to one's trailer hitch. Wonder how powerful it would have to be to pull a Cat 22 up and out? Dick
