Well I've not had my h260 a whole year and the went to attach the baby to my truck and the gears in the stand stripped. If my memory has not completely frozen over. I replaced two of the Fulton brand stands on my H19 in 5 years. They must use the cheapest metal known to man for the gears. Is anyone else having this kind of problem? Since I'm going to replace the stand does anyone know of a better brand that can last longer than a year. Before you ask, yes I grease it. Jim S/V Java

Fulton Trailer Jack

I own a 23.5 and have a Fulton jack on the trailer for seven years. I want to replace it but it has not failed. Fulton makes some very good jacks but Hunter chose to install one of their less expensive models. Take a look at some of their other jacks. Do not use a jack with the outside rack they are not a good in my opinion.

Jack working fine-- Must be LUCK!

Jack is working fine for 5 years on my 26, but I've stripped the 2 speed winch loading the boat on to the trailer... Nice bang when the teeth come flying out and the boat jumps back several feet with out warning! I would think the strap would break before the gears??

Steve-me too!

Steve- Several of the teeth stripped on my winch on my H26 trailer last August. I had just loaded the boat, let go of the winch and WHAP. Shattered my wrist. At least it was the last day of vacation. The winch was only rated for 2000 lbs. The manufacturer of the winch (name escapes me and the boat is buried in storage) replaced the winch with a 3500 lb. version. Everyone with a trailer should check to make sure the winch is rated to lift these boats. If it's not replace it. Beats a broken wrist, or worse.

tongue jacks

Jim; your trailer was built my Magic Tilt and I will tell them of the problem. Actually, when Hunter made their own trailers, they had good tongue jacks. Your drill is on its way and tell Joan I said Hi. Take care of Java and if you have any more problems, call me. Can you rearrange your schedule in August so I can have you at the rendevouz?

BoatUS Catalog

Hi Jim, Check out the Boat US catalog, they have a large selection of replacement trailer tounge jacks. I replaced mine with the Dual wheel, 1500 lb. capactiy one that they stock. It was a 10 minute (or less) job to change it. In case you don't have the catalog, check out their on line store at: http://www.boatus-store.com/MC_Online Fair winds (and roads)... Tom

Ordered the Dual Wheel

Thanks Guys, Ordered the dual wheel 1500lb model on Friday. Should have it by thrusday. If the H260 has a tongue weight of around 300lbs why are these gears failing some much? Cheap Metal??? I'll bet that everyone of the Fulton jacks have the same set of gears! Jim S/V Java Dave, Sorry - No to August - to much going on here due to Son's wedding in September.
