The clamp on my trailer hitch needs repair. Should I just replace the clamp or the entire unit? the unit itself is in good shape and is welded to the trailer.

Replace it

My opinion is replace the whole unit. Why chance a failure on the road and have your boat come unhooked. What would the cost be to replace the whole unit to having to replace your boat? Tom

If the shell is in good shape you can put in new

moving parts, but it will cost as much as a new hitch. Get an estimate from a trailer hitch installer, preferably an independent business with a good reputation. The big outfits often charge more for the same work, and they are no more honest that the average little guy.
