I am interested in purchasing a trailer for my Catalina 30. Is there a good used market or should I have it custom built.

Spend a lot of time looking for a used trailer. For a boat of that size a new trailer will probably cost about the same as the boat if not more.
Using the internet there should not be too much problem finding a trailer that will fit or that can be easily modified to work.

Trailer, no problem
I found this used old equip. trailer for $800.00 There are tons of them on the market now, with the economy. You should be able to get one for about three thousand or maybe less, then make some modifications if needed. Mine is not street legal as it has no lights or brakes but we only go 9 miles to and from the marina, once a year is no problem. The beam is 10'10" so you would need a wide load permit to haul down the road. No problem. The first year I had a tow truck do it so they were all permited as needed and insured too.
