I have an opportunity at the moment that I can use a slip for about 3 weeks. My trailer also needs the carpet replaced. What type of carpet should be used?

I just use the indoor/outdoor carpet that you can get at home depot. Has always worked fine for me.

You guys buy NEW carpet ?!

For your boat trailer? I pick up chunks of carpet from remodel jobs or friends who are replacing some. I keep a roll under the porch for all kinds of throw away padding. It's really handy to have around.

Soling42 I like the idea of using a light colored

carpet. I have dark blue on mine and I can't see the bunks when loading at night. Just replaced them so not anxious to redo soon but next time. Maybe I'll put some fluorescent or reflective tape on the ends. Frank

Frank, if you cruise for used

carpet in the low rent parts of town you can find orange, and red, and some remarkable bright patterns. Once you score, you will probably have a lifetime supply, especially if it's a motel remodel. On a similar note, a lot of us use vans or SUV type rigs to tow. If you cut used carpet (the clean parts)to fit the back of your rig, and lay in a few layers, it cuts road noise, insulates, and when it gets grungy at the end of the season, you pull out a layer and have a clean new look.
