Hunter 240 East Brunswick
Hey folks,

I am new to sailing and I just bought a hunter 240 and having trailer problems. I had a survey done on my boat. I was concerned about the trailer not distributing the weight of the boat properly. Surveyor didnt think it was a big concern. So I towed the boat from PA to NJ when I got it home I noticed a crack where the trailer bunk was a bit high. Now trying to get the trailer adjusted properly and I cannot find anyone who can do the work. One local marina said maybe in January. Another marina told me it was 2 days work trial and error at $100 an hour. Give me a break I was born at night but not last night!

I live in central NJ near East Brunswick and cannot beleive in this economy everyone is so busy they cannot raise the boat and adjust the trailer! I need to releive the pressure the bunk is applying to the hull. Then after getting that taken care of I have to get the hull fixed. This is my first sailboat I hope this isn't an omen on how the rest of sailing this boat is going to treat me.

I wish I could lift the boat off the trailer somehow, I would do it myself. I have to get the trailer totally set up properly, bunks toung weight ect. Dont need any more problems. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have an H22. My brother-in-law has a tow truck that can lift 8,000 lbs. We used two long, wide straps and lifted my boat while we made adjustments to the bunks. Just an idea.

Just as a thought, and admitting I've never tried it myself, assuming the supports for the bunks run through tubes welded to the trailer, it might be possible to gently lower/raise each support in turn with a decent floor jack.
Anyone out there tried that?
