I'm looking for websites where sailboats owners trade their boats (for two vacations, etc.) with others owners in different parts of the country and the world. Any address (or regular mail) would be great. I'm looking to trade with someone in Pacific Northwest or Northeast. I have an 82 Catalina 27 in Marina Del Ray, Ca. Thank you, John Mesa

John, We share the same idea.

My wife and I have been talking about the same idea. (95 H26) We are in NE Washington State on Lake Roosevelt. (135 miles long) If you find such a web site please post it on this site. I'm not sure if such a program could cover all the legal problems people could find to screw this idea up but it might just allow people in different areas of the country to swap boats and time individually as fits their needs. I'd darn sure think hard about trading a couple of weeks of summer time for the same in return during the winter. We are listed in the Hunter directory. E-mail and we can kick this around. Tried This Before, No Luck!

A few years ago (when I still owned a Hunter) I made offers on HOW to trade my condo in Park City, UT (skiing, 2002 Olympics, etc) for time on a boat in WARM weather. I got no responses at all - I'm glad you're starting this thread, John! Maybe it will kick off a "vacation swap meet"! Another opotion might be to contact all the listed owners in the area where you want to go, "spam" them with your request for a swap, and see what happens. We were members of the Floriday Sailing Charter Club for a few years but never really used it - kept cancelling the trip to the Keys and opting for San Diego! But it is still a cheaper way to charter, using someone's personal boat rather than a fleet boat - both good and bad about that, I'm sure.... Good Luck! Michael O' s/v m

I'm game for the idea

Look, I own a 34' Hunter which is docked at a very nice Marina right near Sarasota, St. Petersburg, Bradenton, etc. and would LOVE to swap with a sailor who has a place in ski country. The details can be worked out. Ramon

Ramon - SKI???

Ramon - If you're seriously interested in a swap, boat for condo, let's start a dialogue and see if it fits. I'm in Park City, UT (home of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games) and we've got GREAT snow! We usually keep a boat at Bear Lake, UT..... but we just puchased a Pearson 28 in Seattle and have left it there for until next spring so we can sail the Puget Sound for a while. Contact me at fairwind@xmission.com Love to hear from you! Michael O' s/v m
