I just bought a Hyundai Santa Fe (SUV) with a V6 and I am considering towing my O'Day with it. However, the manual says the maximum towing weight is 1200 Lbs. Any one have any experience with this vehicle or a similar one?
Dave - I has this conversation with a friend with a Santa Fe, and he thought max towing weight was 2200 pounds; are you certain about the limit? If so, I wouldn't do it. The car might be able to do it but I'd hate to have to discuss it with my insurance company if there were an issue. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
I regularly tow a Mariner 2+2 with a Ford Explorer with a V-6. No problems. I realize the Mariner is a little lighter than the 19 but the difference is only a few hundred pounds.
Dave, I have an O'Day 19 and tow it with my Ford Ranger 2 wheel drive pickup 4 cylinder and have no problems at all. I would imagine by now you have given it a try with your Hyundai and found that it is more than adequate.
