Our tender/dinghy needs exceeds most davits systems. Since we tow our 10'zodiac most of the time anyway we are considering buying a 13'Boston Whaler that would fulfill our scuba needs for size, speed and range. Does anybody out there have any experience towing a similar tender? What type of performance penalty could I expect ? Thanks.

Penalty

One of the larger penalties is the possibility of it turning over in rough weather and damaging the motor. Make the weather a little worse, and it may launch itself off a wave into your transom. Unfortunately, by the time it is that rough, it will be a bit of a problem getting that Whaler aboard.

I tow a Whaler

Hi, I tow a 13' boston whaler SS with a 40hp evinrude behind my Legend 37, it slows me down 1 to 1.5 knots, and I only tow it on short trips (20 nm) or less. I do not think it would ever flip over. LAS
