I am in the process of closing the purchase of a 1983 Catalina 25. I have a V6 cyl station wagon. Do you think this car can or should tow this boat? Thanks, Stan

No

I own a catalina 22 and it scales out at 2500 plus the 1000 for the trailer then the 600 or so must haves that are in the boat that totals about 4100 and I am sure that a catalina 25 weighs a bit more i do not think that a wagon would have the capacity for that size. You may be ok down the road but what about quick stops, hills or even getting the boat up the ramp. I would thik that you would need a little more tow vehicle./ If your not going to trailer theboat you can always borrow a truck or rent on the two times a year you need to tow it. Herb

NO. . .

The boat weighs about 4200 lbs and with the trailer you are up to approx. 5400 lbs. Most current-day wagons can tow about 2000 lbs. Check your owner's manual to be sure, but most probably it is not even close. Time to get that SUV.

ONLY IF

You want to endange the boat, yourself and everyone else on the road around you. That's just not a good mix.
