I've got my mast lowered, and I'm looking for some advice on how best to install a topping lift. (the seller had a rope line tied to the rear stay and the boom) Is it simply a matter of attaching a block to the top of the mast and running a line down with a snap to connect the boom? (wire or rope?) Are there kits available (I've had no luck with a dozen web sites). Thanks, y'all.

Try sailcare.com

I bought mine from Sailcare. http://www.sailcare.com/products2.html last year. I drilled and tapped a 1/4-20 hole and installed a SS screw eye on the end of the boom. http://home.nc.rr.com/alexandersofnc/index.html

Simple topping lift

The simplest/cheapest method is to attach a line beside the back stay terminal at the masthead, that runs down to the end of the boom.

On Target, Mark.

Thanks, Mark. I checked out the web site. Sounds great. I'll be in the water in 7 days. Sail on.

Sailing plans?

Where are you planning on sailing this weekend? I'm looking at Belhaven Sat-Mon.

Hi Mark - We're going to launch tomorrow (Sat the 24th) in Bath. We'll be keeping the Christine in Bath Marina. My rudder is still in the shop - hope to have it on sometime next week - then I'd like to meet you on the river. My email is: oesterreichb@mail.ecu.edu Let's hope the rain ceases soon. Bryan
