Good morning all. I have added 50 lbs or solar panels and framework to my davits adding to the weight of the dink, motor, fuel and whatever water doesn't drain out on it's own. I am concerned with all the weight hanging back there. I did run tightening stays with turnbuckles from the davits to deck mounted padeyes to assist but think that if I install a BoomKicker I could actually use the topping lift to take some of the weight off from above. Call it added insurance.
When I thought I might be able to use the split backstay for support I was quickly schooled that this was not a good idea. Can anyone find fault with this idea? I do not plan to overload the topping lift, just take up some of the strain.
As always, Thanks.
Norm
