I need to replace the topping lift line on my 1989 Hunter 335 and the boat is 5 hours away. Can anyone supply me with the length of line I need or the luff and foot dims of the mainsail so I can calculate?

Topping Lift Line

Colin, I replaced my topping lift a few years ago. I used 90feet of 3/8" Sta-set. I allowed a few feet extra for a long tail to allow a few wraps on the halyard winch and also enough to allow me to lower/drop the boom without the tail having to be rethreaded through the rope clutch. You will need to splice the masthead end of the topping lift to reattach the line to the masthead with a shackle. If you have a Dutchman flaking system on the mainsail, you should inspect the Dutchman lines and replace if necessary. I replaced the topping lift and Dutchman lines while I had the mast down to reseal the wiring harness tube beneath the mast base on my '88 H33.5. Good Luck! David "South Wind"

Good time for a solid vang

I replaced mine with a boom kicker and would never go back to a topping lift. Garhauer makes a good solid boom vang at resonable price.
