Topping Lift Accessability

This weekend I changed my 336's cockpit leads. The temperature was such (cold) that it made sense to stay in the harbor and make some long considered improvements. I'd recommend this alteration for anyone that has both ends of the mainsheet returning to the cockpit while the topping lift remains cleated at the mast. I began by tying the mainsheet return to the boom (instead of having it return to the cockpit) and moved the downhaul to the vacated starboard side stopper. The vacated (downhaul) starboard fairlead block at the foot of the mast was then moved to the port side and a lengthened topping lift was led back to the cockpit instead of being cleated on the mast. I know I adjust the topping lift each time I'm under sail and this makes it really easy. I'm not sure that I'll ever need to control both ends of the mainsheet - maybe if the traveler was on top of the caoch house I'd need to be able to conveniently winch it, but the traveler sits directly forward of the wheel and the free end of the mainsheet is easy to adjust without needing winch power. I led my lazy jacks back to the cokpit on our 29.5 for the same reason.
